Knismophilia: a paraphilia in which individuals derive sexual pleasure and arousal from tickling or being tickled (also known as titillagnia or knismolagnia). Knismophilia gets its name from the term knismesis, which is a light, feather-like touch that usually doesn’t induce laughter. Gargalesis, on the other hand, is the type of hard tickling that induces laughter and cannot be induced onto oneself. Tickling is a relatively common but rarely heard of fetish. There are tickling porn sites, dating sites, and dominatrices. There was even a documentary called “Tickled” that looked at the darker side of the tickling world, in which some young men were tricked into engaging in the fetish under the guise of competing in the sport “endurance tickling”. In general, knismophilia is regarded as a safe fetish as there is no bodily harm that can result from a tickling session. However since tickling often comes with laughter and smiling, it is recommended to use a safe-word with your tickle partner to avoid any miscommunications. Happy tickling!
